November Project - Drop

For this month's Schnibbles project we were given the task of making one of the new Little Bites patterns - Drop.  I made version #1 and it is just the cutest little thing!

November schnibbles - Drop!

I used the fabric line Lovely by Sandy Gervais for Moda.  I don't know why I made such a Spring version of this since it is the Christmas season but oh well!  It will be great for Spring and Easter.

WIP Wednesday

I wish I could say I accomplished more of my sewing/quilting goals this past week, but with Thanksgiving last week and traveling, I don't have much to share.

So, this week I am sharing a quick little fall table runner I whipped up for my husband's secretary.

Phenominal Fall Runner

Fall Runner for Billie

I just used a charm pack (Phenomenal Fall by Sandy Gervias) and sewed it together and added some brown ric-rac to try to add something to this.  These are not my typical colors to work with, but thought it would be a good Thanksgiving gift for Mrs. Billie.

Runner Label

Here is shot of the label on the back.  The label came from my monthly Label Crew subscription with Sweetwater.  I love their labels!

I also finished this cute little pillow for my new nephew last week too -

Pillow for my NEW Nephew!

This year my husband and I went to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for Thanksgiving!  We had a great time.  Normally we stay home for Thanksgiving and then go to DFW for Christmas with my family but this year we decided to flip flop our holidays around.  It was great to see my family and meet my new nephew, Brooks, for the first time!  He was just born on November 7th.  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of precious Brooks.  (I like to call him Brooksie!).

I did manage to make a new pillow for Brooks' nursery before we left town.  It matches the quilt I gave to my sister at her shower a few months ago.

Zig Zag Quilt

The fabric I used was Grow with Me by Deb Strain.  It is a cute little fabric line and since the baby's nursery is decorated with a monkey theme it worked well!

For the first time I am linking up to Quilt Story for their Fabric Tuesday post!  Yay!

WIP Wednesday - On a Whim

This past week I finished up my On a Whim blocks.  I started these blocks probably in the Spring and for whatever reason couldn't finish them up - I guess there were other pretty things calling my name!  The fabric I am using for this quilt is Flora by Lauren & Jessie Jung for Moda.  This line of fabric is simply beautiful!

Now I just need to put all 20 blocks together, add the border, make the backing, baste it, quilt it and bind it AND then it will be done!  HA!  Maybe by Easter!

Veterans Day!

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our Veterans and our current military persons overseas and here at home.  I pray for your safety daily and am so thankful to have brave people protecting our country and our freedoms.  My Dad is a veteran too and I am so proud that he is my Dad.

Xblock ruler class!

I made this Texas flag at my local quilt shop probably a year and half ago using the X-Box ruler.  A patriotic quilt is on my never ending and every growing to do list!

WIP Wednesday

Wednesday already?!  The weeks just fly by.  It is hard to imagine that Thanksgiving is just in a couple weeks and then Christmas is right around the corner.  Eek!

I do have a finish this week to share.  Yay!  I finished quilting and bound this fun rainbow quilt that will be donated to our local girls ranch.  It is bright and cheerful and I hope it will give a young girl some comfort and she transitions in and out of foster care into a forever home.

The blocks came from a bee that my friend Laura is in.  Laura is one of my dearest friends (HI LAURA!) and  we and a couple people near where we live have just started the East Texas Modern Quilt Guild.  As our guild project, we are making quilts for all of the girls who will be in and out of the girls ranch.  These quilts will be for the girls to take with them as they transition out of the ranch and into their forever homes.  So, this is a great use of Laura's bee blocks.  I just trimmed them down, put in the sashing, border, made the back and quilted and bound this one.  This was a fun project to finish.
